Privacy Policy

Lawn Schedule ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Lawn Schedule web application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Lawn Schedule, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: email address and password, or your name and email address via Google OAuth sign-in.
  • Lawn profile: zip code, grass type, and optional details such as lawn size and sun exposure.
  • Reminder preferences: your chosen treatment dates and advance notice lead time.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns, collected via analytics tools.
  • Session cookie: an HTTP-only cookie that keeps you signed in. It contains no personal data and is never accessible to JavaScript.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Generate and display your personalized lawn care schedule.
  • Send email reminders for upcoming treatments at the cadence you configure.
  • Authenticate your account and maintain your session.
  • Improve the service based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns.
  • Communicate service updates, security notices, and (if you opt in) promotional content.

3. Third-Party Services

We share your data with the following service providers only to the extent necessary to operate Lawn Schedule:

  • Google (OAuth): if you sign in with Google, Google provides your name and email address to us. Your use of Google sign-in is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Mailtrap: delivers reminder and transactional emails on our behalf. Your email address is transmitted to Mailtrap for this purpose.
  • Microsoft Azure: hosts our application and database. Your data is stored on Azure servers, which may be located in the United States.
  • Stripe (planned): if you upgrade to a paid plan, payment processing will be handled by Stripe. We will never store your full credit card number. Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention or legal compliance).

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and correction: you can view and update your lawn profile and preferences from within the app at any time.
  • Account deletion: you can delete your account from the app settings. This removes all associated personal data.
  • Email opt-out: you can disable reminder emails from your reminder preferences at any time. Transactional emails (such as password resets) cannot be disabled.
  • Data export or other requests: email us at hello@lawn-schedule.com and we will respond within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

Lawn Schedule is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit, HTTP-only session cookies, and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or a prominent notice in the app. Continued use of Lawn Schedule after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
